Medium Format Gold

Gold 200 in 120 format is a genuinely rare and wonderful thing — a beloved consumer emulsion stretched across a canvas three to four times larger than its 35mm sibling. The jump to medium format transforms what is already a charming film into something approaching fine art: the grain, already fine at 35mm, becomes virtually invisible in 6×6 or 6×7, while that signature warm palette gains a three-dimensional depth that has to be seen on a light table to be fully appreciated. The larger negative area means you can print bigger, crop more aggressively, or simply bask in the tonality that only medium format can deliver. It is an ideal partner for Holga and Diana cameras, where the plastic lens softness pairs beautifully with Gold's warmth to create dreamy, lo-fi images with real emotional weight. But do not dismiss it for serious work — load it into a Hasselblad, a Mamiya, or a Rolleiflex and Gold 200 will surprise you with its resolving power and color fidelity. We especially love it for golden hour portraiture on 120, where the warm emulsion bias acts like a built-in warming filter for skin tones. Given how few color negative films remain available in 120, Gold 200 in this format is something to be celebrated and shot while we have it.
