Owner Recommendation

All-Purpose 120

EKTAPAN 400 in 120 format gives medium format photographers the speed they need without sacrificing the resolution advantage that makes medium format worth shooting in the first place. At 400 ISO on a 6×6 or 6×7 negative, you have enough speed to handhold in most daylight situations and many interior scenarios, and the grain — already fine at 35mm — becomes essentially a non-issue at medium format enlargement sizes. This film is a pragmatic choice for the working medium format photographer: it does not demand perfect light, it does not punish you for shooting handheld, and it delivers negatives large enough to print at whatever size your darkroom or printer can handle. We especially like it for handheld TLR and rangefinder shooting, where the combination of leaf-shutter silence, medium format tonality, and 400-speed flexibility creates a uniquely capable street and documentary setup. It also excels for travel photography, where carrying a tripod is not always practical and the light changes faster than you can change films. For photographers who love the medium format look but do not always have the luxury of shooting at ISO 100 on a tripod, EKTAPAN 400 in 120 is the solution.
