Owner Recommendation

Low Light Pro 120

An 800-speed professional color negative film in 120 format is a rare and precious thing — there are vanishingly few options in this category, and EKTACOLOR PRO 800 carries the banner almost alone. Handholding a medium format camera in low light has traditionally been a compromise between shutter speed, aperture, and prayer, but ISO 800 on 120 changes the equation. You can shoot a Rolleiflex indoors, a Mamiya 7 at a dimly lit reception, or a Pentax 67 during blue hour without a tripod, and walk away with negatives large enough to print at sizes that would make a 35mm photographer weep. The grain, which is visible but pleasant at 35mm, smooths out considerably on the larger negative area, and the color remains professional-grade even in mixed and challenging light. Street portrait photographers working at night, concert photographers with medium format access, and wedding photographers who want the medium format look through the entire reception will find this film invaluable. It is a specialist tool, yes, but for the situations it was designed for, there is simply no substitute.
