Owner Recommendation

Slide Dream

EKTACHROME E100 on 120 format is, in our considered opinion, one of the most beautiful things you can do with a medium format camera. A 6×7 EKTACHROME transparency on a light table is an object of genuine wonder — a self-illuminated window into a moment, with a depth and presence that no print, no screen, and certainly no Instagram post can approach. The technical qualities of the film — the fine grain, the clean whites, the natural color — are all amplified by the larger format, but what really matters is the experience: composing on a ground glass, metering with intention, making every one of your ten or twelve frames count, and then holding the results in your hand as finished, perfect little windows. This is photography at its most considered and most rewarding. We recommend at least one roll of EKTACHROME 120 for every medium format photographer, even if you never shoot another. The experience of seeing your own work as a medium format transparency — not a scan, not a print, but the thing itself, glowing — will change how you think about photography. Meter with precision, bracket if you can afford the frames, and prepare to fall in love with the medium all over again.
